Well I made three more of the stockings but this time I added “bauble” beads because these are for an adult. These are for a swap that I am in:

Bauble stockings
There is something special with the middle stocking…it is kind of Christmassy but it is special for the swap that I am in…I can’t say anything until my swap person receives it. But I really am liking the bauble beads….I’ve been going crazy with them:

Beads and Baubles
I think that I am going to start posting “Dollarama” finds. These beads will be used in lots of projects. I am still on my stockings but I had forgotten about these. And at Allsorts blog she has started an Advent Calendar Gallery.
I’ve accomplished what I set out to accomplish this week-end! The 25 stockings wrapped and boxed, ready to mail tomorrow. My Bee Sew Whimsical swap is ready to go too! Now to tidy up the sewing area and FINISH another project that is started…but I’m not sure what it is or will be. I have all the scraps from the stockings left over so maybe some paper pieced quilty ornaments and cards….oh the joy…plus it will get me on the sewing machine. I have a final quilting workshop on Tuesday I think. It is for a banner…paperpieced.
Well, time to wrap up some loose ends.

Here is my finished product…

Christmas Advent Stockings
Here’s another shot of just a row…
These stockings are going to a secret place. They will be a bit late but I hope that the children who will be opening up the little Christmas offerings will be happy. I intend on getting the stockings back and continuing the tradition.
Anyhow…this is enough for tonight…off to package the gift!

…and I have some interesting mail! Finally. I did the Angel Swap, sent my Angel partner a box of goodies, handmade and more but the person who had my name hasn’t come through. The due date was October 31st and still nothing….I would like to be positive and am giving her, a chance …. But I haven’t given up on swaps. I like to push myself and by participating in swapping I try new techniques and share. I sent my TGOS ornament this week and today I received one! Yay! Patricia from Colorado (CO means Colorado…I think) sent me this:

TGOS received
It is light blue with the angel on one side…she got the colour and the motif that I love…Yes J, I like Angels too
. Here is the other side:

I love the thread that she used and it is such a simple ornament. Thanks Patricia. I’ll have to find out if you have a blog and link you.
I also received one of the best magazines:

Canadian Quilter
I love this magazine and since it is regional it is such an good resource. I haven’t sat down to enjoy it but the table of contents looked appealing.
So I am correcting a lot but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. After next Tuesday I will only have the final writing exams to mark and then tally up the marks. I don’t have to rush with the marking either because the students will not get the exams back and will have already started their Christmas break. See! I am talking myself into seeing that light!

Well, it is Sunday evening and back to work tomorrow morning means less time in the sewing room…
I accomplished a few goals. Here is my ornament of the TGOS ornament swap:

Ornament and card
Here is an update on my stockings….

Stocking garland
25 stockings (sideways)
So…no correcting this week-end but lots of sewing. Oh…and I got the laundry done, not folded but washed and hung.

Miniature Stockings
These are the stockings that I spoke about in my previous post. I’m hooked on them. They are only about five inches tall and pretty easy to make up. I am going to add some beads and the ribbon and then fill them with little goodies. I have about 10 more beside my sewing machine, ready to make up. So between these stockings and a cross stitch ornament I am keeping busy this week-end. I can’t show the cross stitch ornament because it is a gift.
Off to make yet another cup of tea and sew some more stockings.

I had a quilting workshop last night and we started this:

The workshop was to learn how to machine applique. I am not that far on it but one snowman is started and the top is on my design wall….Projects, projects… I have been in the sewing room and will take pictures. I am working on my TGOS swap and my Honeypot swap. I want to get them out in the mail early next week. This is my week-end to finish my swap projects.
Time for work
…How many years until retirement? Oh wait…I will have some housetime over Christmas

…..this

Bagel Bites
and this…

Banana chocolate chip muffins
Notice the jars in the background…see-through jars…everywhere in the house. The Bagel bites are simpley bagels spread with barbecue sauce, then any meat that is hanging around…I used chicken and topped with cheese, put in the oven and a simple meal, snack. The banana chocolate chip muffins…from my muffin recipe book.
It’s time to work on this…

My friendship journal with R
I have had the friendship journal too long
. But I am working on adding a few visuals to it today and it will be in the mail tomorrow.
I spent most of yesterday doing laundry, a few errands and crocheting. Today I slept in and then cleaned the kitchen which led to the above. While I work on my friendship journal I am going to make a broccoli soup….do we have “potage” in English? A thick soup. There is far to much brocoli in my fridge…I cleaned that out this morning too.

I started this post on Thursday but I had to rush off to school. At my quilt guild there was a workshop about making little christmas stocking ornaments. The lady used these cheap beads from Dollarama and I just had to go and get some and put them in a glass jar. Everytime I walk by them I shake them, listening to the clangy sound!
. The little thngs in life….

I think that the jar is going to fill up! I will post pictures of the little stockings when I get some done!
And while we are on the glass jars…I love them! I like the glass candle jars and then reusing them. The next jar is on button jar…an old Kraft peanut butter jar…put to good use.

More buttons…in more jars!

Now what is creative space without munchies….PEPPERMINTS! And this jar is pretty old. The peppermints are always good snacks for visitors, like husband and sons venture in for some sort of sewing favour…

Jars, jars, jars. In the midst of my year-long organizing venture I am trying to use my containers wisely. A later post will be about the tins collection. The problem is that with tins, I can’t see inside the tins, therefore I forget what is there. I guess there are labels aren’t there.
Laundry is calling. And since it is the week-end I will probably post again.

…last night and Cercle des fermieres meeting tonight. I signed up for two quilt workshops last night. One involves machine applique and the other is for a banner. I could have signed up for more but it is a good thing that I forgot my money
…we have to put 5.00 down for each atelier and pay the rest when we take the course. I think that someone was looking over my shoulder…two workshops are enough. I really need to retire!
. Here is a link to what the Cercle des fermieres is all about. It is all in French, but I might have some French readers…hmmm…I might have some readers.
Well, off to the meeting.
