Hopefully I’ll be a little more consistent! That’s my goal!

I have so many goals and yesterday I started working my 2012 embroidery goal:

Yes, it is going to be a sampler. I am taking part in the “Take a Stitch Tuesday 2012″ challenge with Sharon from Pintangle and I am going to work at honing my embroidery skills. Sharon and Annie have these beautiful sampler journals and I am using the idea and creating my own.

Mine is going to be called “Peg’s Threads.” It will be a journal of sorts and a way for me to practice my stitchery, while following along with TAST! This is my first panel and I hope to do many more. I cut up material and even weave cloth and sewed them into strips. As I was doing it I so wanted to have some dyed cloth, so guess what? Dying cloth is on my “to do” list.

Over Christmas, I did finish up my Snowman Redwork embroidery:

And I started my next block:

I’m still using the transfer-eze material but it left my first block rather stiff. Maybe I had to soak it for more than 5 minutes?

Anyhow.

Snowman update and a gift!

My snowman is coming along and it is very addictive! I love coming home and stitching another length of thread. I’m really curious to see the transfer-eze paer come off. I’m getting better at my stitching, finding just the right length and switching back and forth between back stitch and stem stitch. I’m only using one strand of thread and find that it is the correct width. So fun! And this is only block #1!

It is perfect to go with my new needlework project.

How do other people use their needlebooks. I have a few now.

Well, off to stitch another strand!

I am trying to embroider like my Australian friends….what do you think Sheila? I keep going back to the embroideries you did for me, so you are teaching me!

This is a block of the month and I don’t have to worry about material because each month I ge the material too. It is from this booklet: Redwork-Winter Twitterings by House of White Birches. I have the book and the patterns already come printed onto Transfer-Eze paper, ( very pliable film that needles well. Place into paper tray inkjet printer, print image / design onto the ‘film’ side. Peel freezer paper backing away and stick directly to theproject. )

Adjustable red chairs so that Jen and I can play…well, Jen for sure but maybe others will join! Maria-Cristina . Dear hubby put them together. I waited quite awhile for these and they came on special this week!

So far on my yo-yo Christmas tree. I have to sew in those hanging threads, stitch down the presents, put the backing on and bind it….not sure if I like it, but almost there….

And….check out my prototype for my selvedge ornaments!

I so procrastinated making these because I couldn’t understand the pattern. But I like it and now on to the other two ornaments. Aren’t they cute? I ordered the pattern but then found it online, in case any of you want to make them. Go to McCalls

On my design wall I have placemats that need a backing and a Santa Clause….And what is everyone else making?

But I have been busy…working, running and yes, quilting, and stashbuilding!

And here is what my husband brought home! Yes! I asked him to pick me up some reds and blacks, for a christmas project. He did but then he was drawn to the bird fabric and wants me to do something with it:

And since it will soon be Christmas my husband and I picked up these:

They are so fragile, that the salesgirl broke one before she put them in a bag. We have the bluejays and the chickadee at the birdfeeder but not the cardinal, but so beautiful.

For safekeeping…and notice the beautiful cabinet, old cookie boxes from my husband’s grandfather’s store, four, one on top of the other (my husband has been working on them….now just need to add books, but for now, keeping the ornaments safe:

So much goes into making a quilt. My son asked me how many hours it took to this point….hmmmm….I started cutting on September 17th. I am liking it now!

Well, the Optica quilt is coming along. I have all the blocks done and 7 rows now need to be sewn into strips and then together. I will be doing it this week, in the evenings as a way to unwind. I’m not seeing the optical illusion yet. Here is my friend Jen’s quilt, check out her wild colours!

Our guild is hosting an end-of-the-year project. Each member was given a charm pack of 25 squares and we have to create something with the squares. No other material can show, but if we make a bag we can use a different material inside or the back of a quilt. Any ideas?

Some of the material is “quilting” material, hence maybe something to hold my tools.

And we went apple picking last week-end:
